Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure launches

The CPNI is the Government-run authority tasked with providing protective security advice to businesses and organisations across the UK. Its website, launched on 1 February 2007, can be found at: http://www.cpni.gov.uk.

CPNI's advice aims to reduce the vulnerability of the national infrastructure to terrorism and other threats, maintaining the safety of the UK's essential services as delivered by the emergency services and the communications, energy, finance, food, government, health, transport and water sectors.
