In order to increase the effectiveness of their town CCTV cameras South Tyneside Council has commissioned 2020 Vision to incorporate a public address system.
The introduction of voice broadcast speakers which enable CCTV operators in the Control Room to challenge and warn miscreants that they are being monitored on CCTV, thereby reducing antisocial behavior and minor criminal offences.
The town centre cameras are part of the 81 public space cameras covering the borough of South Tyneside.
Peter Houlis, Managing Director of 2020 Vision said: '' We have had a long and mutually beneficial relationship with South Tyneside Borough Council, which started in 1993 with the installation of the first six cameras.They have always been proactive and successful in the use of CCTV in the war against crime. This further improvement can only increase the benefits CCTV has brought to the quality of life for those living, working and visiting South Tyneside''.
